PET Behaviour conSULtaTIONS

When our beloved Cockerpoo developed aggression problems around our children, we simply had to do something. Our vet recommended Katie so we hired her immediately. She really helped us and we can’t recommend her enough.

BEHAVIOUR PROBLEMs

WHAT KATIE DOES

I work under vet referral (think of it as consent to work with their client and ensure clinical causes are ruled out as a suprisingly high percentage of behaviour cases have underlying clinical comorbidities) to ensure the well being of your pet first. Then I work with you come up with a plan with you to help you move forward with your pet. Because behaviour is multifaceted, I try to gather as much information as possible to advise you effectively and it may require working collaboratively with your vets as your pets’ primary healthcare provider and other pet professionals. I work with mostly cats and dogs, because they are the ones people often seek help for but I can and do work with pretty much any pet. Check your pet insurance policy as you may be able to claim my fees back and any medical diagnositics and medications.

I also work as a clinical animal behaviourist for one of the largest dog welfare charities in the world, providing remote (online) behaviour consultations for hundreds of pet and dog owners, all over the UK and Northern Ireland. How cool is that! This and my 20+ years in business has afforded me with substantial experience, knowledge and skill.

It gives me warm fuzzy feelings to be able to provide specialist behaviour support to so many people and their pet companions, which is partly why I have dedicated my life to doing so. I don’t, however, specialise in pet photography nor singing but I do attempt both occasionally.

All are conducted in compliance with current government guidelines, laws and the codes of ethics set by my membership organisations, so you know you’re in good hands. I cover most of Bristol or 40-50 minutes drive in person which includes parts of Wales and Gloucester and the rest of the UK and abroad online, let me know your location when you email.

We had an issue introducing a kitten into the house with our 2 dogs. Katie provided valuable advice both in person and remotely, and once we put those ideas into practice we were able to quickly resolve the situation. Katie’s knowledge of dog and cat behaviour was invaluable and our cat and dogs are now great friends. Thank you Katie. Rachel and Ian, Bristol

CONSULTATIONs

My consultations are adapted to suit the emotional and behavioural welfare needs of both you and your pets, so are entirely bespoke and may be online or in person depending on the case, welfare and safety issues or location.

All are conducted in compliance with current government guidelines, laws and the codes of ethics set by my membership organisations, so you know you’re in good hands. This means uptodate science and strategies will be used; no force or coercion as the aim is to improve the relationship you have with your pet.

*If your dog is from Dogs Trust I cannot work with you, please contact them for behaviour support

Behaviour Assessment £399* - Inclusive of an indepth behaviour assessment conducted under veterinary referral of 2-2.5 hours either in person or online, during which we discuss the problem in depth and see if we can find a solution together to modify the behaviour. You may need a short online or in person (location depending) assessment first if the behaviour is complex.

You also get an in depth behaviour report and treatment plan plus supporting material if needed, my research and guidance post consultation via email and assessing your video footage, a vet report and collaboration with them and other paraprofessionals when appropriate. In addition to this you can also have up to 3 online or phone follow ups of 20-40 minutes each to provide support for you and your pet.

*I can also offer a stand alone assessment of behaviour, without follow on support if this is preferred, making it cheaper to access behaviour advice.

Please let me know your personal needs when you book such as difficulty hearing, anxieties etc, I don’t judge your colour, creed, or if your house needs a dust and you and your pets’ needs are treated with confidentiality and utmost respect. I refer to myself as she/her and will use whatever pronouns you prefer.

Big problem was my cat Blink attacking his tail. Goal was to stop him doing it. Causing me concern as he was injuring himself. Although trial and error, a thorough process where Katie did as much as possible to solve the problem. Tried a variety of methods and approaches which I appreciated. Definitely recommended.
